Creating accessible courses benefits every student. This workshop introduces faculty to Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles and essential accessibility standards within Canvas. Participants will learn how to design course materials that are inclusive, flexible, and usable from the start—covering topics such as document accessibility, headings and structure, color contrast, captions, alternative text, and Canvas accessibility tools. You’ll leave with practical strategies to improve access, reduce barriers, and support diverse learners across your courses.

Want to make your course videos more engaging and effective? This workshop introduces faculty to the basics of Kaltura and shows how to use Kaltura Quizzes to promote active learning. Participants will learn how to create and embed videos in Canvas, add quiz questions to check understanding, and use simple analytics to see how students are engaging with video content. You’ll leave with practical strategies for using video to support learning. 

You know all the basics of Canvas, but are you an advanced gradebook user? Want to learn how to weight groups? Drop the lowest grade? Become a gradebook master? Join us for an advanced tutorial. We will also discuss the benefits of applying rubrics to assignments and how to use AI to make your rubric creation easier and more student-friendly. 

They Came to Office Hours, Now What? - Starting a conversation with college students isn't always easy. Join staff members from the Office of Advising & Coaching in the SSC for a discussion about leading productive conversations with our current students. We will outline a meeting structure that includes framing the meeting, assessing the student's primary needs, and discussing plans for moving forward.
